Community of Inclusion
Statement of Principle

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center believes in the fundamental right of all individuals to discover and express their gender and sexual identity.

We believe in affirming the identities of all people in all aspects of their heritage and experience, including sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, color, class, educational level, immigration status, nationality, ability, religion, age, and family status.

We believe that building a community of inclusion is based on an ethic of compassion, responsibility, justice, and nonviolence.

We believe that respect and value for diversity in all aspects of our community are essential to our well-being and survival.

We believe that advancing progressive goals requires coalition-building.

Based on these beliefs, The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center pro­vides a home for the birth, nurture and celebration of our organizations, institutions and culture; cares for our indi­viduals and groups in need; educates the public and our community; and empowers our individuals and groups to achieve their fullest potential.
