March for Marriage Equality Brooklyn Bridge Sept 2008
From http://www.gaycenter.org/advocacy/issues/prop8 Following the electoral outcomes on four ballot initiatives related to same-sex unions and adoption in California, Arizona, Arkansas and Florida the reaction from the LGBT community is building. Protests are finally starting in New York this week. Earlier this year, Marriage Equality New York sponsored their Fifth Annual Wedding March across the Brooklyn Bridge. This year the march happened in late summer instead of spring, and instead of rain there was sweltering sunshine for the thousands who gathered at City Hall Park to march across the Brooklyn Bridge. Here’s hoping that the continued work of our activists and elected officials will make New York the next state to officially recognize same-sex marriage.
