From http://www.gaycenter.org/out On Saturday, December 20th Join the Impact organized another series of nationwide protests called Light Up the Night for Equal Rights. In New York City the protesters braved the cold gathering at Herald Square in front of Macy's and marching to Times Square where they held a rally in front of holiday shoppers and tourists. Various people spoke and they were not always announced and there was no press list, so names may not be correct. For more information on other actions go to jointheimpact.com. During the holidays and all year long, tens of thousands of people visit the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center to celebrate, to heal, to dream and to organize.
Some who come here have yet to vote in their first election. Others cast their first vote for Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Some arrive seeking answers. Some to help. Some are rich. Some not. Some laugh. Others don’t. Whatever brings people to the Center, there is one thing they all find when they get here. A home.

From http://www.gaycenter.org/out On Tuesday, December 9, 2008, you, the volunteers and members of the Center, are celebrated at the holiday party from 6 pm – 8 pm. Watch this clip from the party last year when Julie Goldman tore up the crowd and the group BETTY crooned holiday favorites. The Center couldn’t happen without you, the volunteers who give your time and the donors who give generously so our doors stay open even on holidays when we are most needed. As our 25th year comes to a close the Center needs you more than ever, consider making a donation: http://www.gaycenter.org/morethanever
