Scope and Content
These are interviews, questionnaires and other correspondence between Martinac and LBGT couples and singles, numerous excerpts of which were drawn upon to write The Lesbian and Gay Book of Love and Marriage: Creating the Stories of Our Minds (1998). The interviews and questionnaires were all conducted in 1997. There are 110 folders.
Bio
Paula Martinac was born in 1954 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended Chatham College in Pittsburgh before going to graduate school at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. In 1979 she became Assistant Curator at the West Virginia State Museum in Charleston. In 1982 she moved to New Jersey and into a career in feminist/women's publishing and writing (Womanews, Conditions, NYU's Feminist Press). She became a freelance writer, and has written numerous articles, short stories and novels, including Out of Time (Lambda Award for Lesbian Fiction 1990). Other works include Home Movies (1993), Chicken (1997), k.d. lang (1997), The Queerest Places: A National Guide to Gay and Lesbian Historic Sites (1997) and The Lesbian and Gay Book of Love and Marriage (1998).
