LGBT People, Religion and Spirituality

Out & Faithful: LGBT People, Religion and Spirituality brings together LGBT Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jews, Muslims and those of other faith traditions as well as those of no faith tradition to discuss and explore spiritual and religious issues and concerns. One significant theme that is examined are the common and divergent struggles LGBT people face in building and maintaining spiritual integrity within both supportive and hostile environments.

Out & Faithful looks at ways in which different religious traditions have portrayed LGBT people; how LGBT individuals have been faithful adherents to major religions in spite of the ways in which their faith tradition may have been used against them; creative ways that LGBT people are introducing innovations into their traditions; and how LGBT individuals have attained influential positions within specific religious or spiritual traditions. Out & Faithful also seeks to discover how LGBT people are exploring paths of spirituality outside these established traditions. Out & Faithful provides a safe and welcoming space in which people can learn to integrate their spirituality or deep faith convictions with their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
