Second Tuesdays presents A Performance of "Four Short Plays to Long Remember"

A new compilation of "Short Plays to Long Remember," edited by Francine L.Trevens., contemplates four important plays.

Quintessential Image by Jane Chambers is a comedy about the innocent outing of a talk show host;

Saturday with Martin by David Johnston explores how easy it is to misjudge those we dislike;

The Importance of Being Doug by Paul Dexter examines the real motivation for both acts of kindness and prejudice.

Bar None by Perry Brass examines how the Mattachine Society changed NY liquor laws for gays before Stonewall;

“We can’t even go to a goddamn bar and have a fag drink like a goddamn stinger without having it shoved up our asses.” Tod, a character in "Bar None," speaking in April 1966, just before the first Mattachine “Sip-in” to openly allow bars to serve gay drinkers.

"My own feeling is that the early to middle-60s in America, despite the oncoming Summer Of Love around the corner, was a bitter and desperate time for most gay men, of increased police entrapment, of more violence against us, and of huge intimidation and silence. We had suffered through both the evils of McCarthyism and the Playboy Philosophy which said we were complete losers. By 1969, things had come to a boiling point that would end in the Stonewall Rebellion." Perry Brass, author of "Bar None."
