Share-A-Thon is an annual event series in which we give Fire Island summer share offerors (those interested in offering shares) and seekers (those looking for shares) a chance to meet and mingle over photos, floor plans, and fliers! No matter your budget, you'll find tempting offers in every category; full share (full access to the house for the summer), half share (limited access for half the time), and quarter-share (housing share for only quarter of the time).

Free Breast Cancer Screening | Thursday, March 22, 1 :30 PM
The Lesbian Cancer Initiative will host the Project Renewal Mobile Mammography Scan Van at The Center. For all women and/including transgender people 40 and older who have not had a screening mammogram in the past year. An advance appointment is necessary. Transgender and gender non-conforming people are invited to schedule their appointment through Mary Solomon, the Project Renewal liaison to the transgender community. Project Renewal staff are experienced at working with members of the LBT community. Medicaid/Medicare/other insurance plans are accepted, but insurance or residency documentation are NOT required for participation.

This special installment of our new intergenerational dialogue series, Q & Gay, takes a look back at hooking-up – then and now. Combining oral history with community discussion, this event will offer unique insights into how our community views sexual behavior, the AIDS crisis, and how our collective past continues to impact us today. From the bathhouses to iPhone apps, we'll showcase this discussion of gay New York against the backdrop of Keith Haring's erotic art. Confirmed panelists include: Johnny Scruff, inventor of the Scruff iPhone app, Rob Zukowski, photographer and community activist.

1980s New York saw the perfect intersection of street art and hip-hop. In honor of this amazing collaboration, we're throwing a back-in-the-day hip-hop jam. We've invited breakdancing diva Rokkafella to hold an old-school, hip-hop dance throw-down with an all-female crew. Do ya like scratchin'? Dueling DJs and battlin' breakers get into the groove for this throwback from wayback!

The way you have designed the Center's booth at Pride draws a crowd. The lighting is set to enhance the mood of the room. Just the right floral arrangements are placed at the center of each table. You found just the right image to portray the theme of the party. Children smile along the parade route as you pass out pom-poms and balloons that you got donated for the event.

Spring 1989 would not have seemed like the ideal moment to celebrate gay sex.
The number of AIDS cases reported to the Centers for Disease Control was about to reach 100,000. (It had taken seven years for the first 50,000 to accumulate; a year and a half for the next 50,000.) Most cases involved gay or bisexual men. The artist Keith Haring, 31, was one of those men. And he was nine months away from death.
