FIERCE! is a membership-based organization building the leadership and power of LGBTQ youth of color in NYC, through youth-led campaigns, leadership development programs, and cultural expression through arts and media.
Gender Identity Project (GIP) at the Center works to foster the healthy development of transgender and gender non-conforming people, partners, family and community. This is done through the delivery of a range of transgender-driven supportive services, advocacy, outreach, education and capacity-building.
Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP) - This collective organization does advocacy and organizing work on issues related to housing, employment, foster care, welfare, benefits, immigration, school, and the criminal justice system. SRLP also provides free legal services for low income people and people of color who are trans, intersex, or gender non-conforming.
Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) provides education and advocacy work, in addition to free legal services and a name-change project for transgender and gender non-conforming people.
TransJustice is the transgender political working group of the Audre Lorde Project (ALP), created by and for trans and gender non-conforming people of color. TransJustice works to mobilize its communities and allies into action on the pressing political issues they face.
Youth Enrichment Services (YES) at the Center is open to LGBTQ youth, and among other services and programs, YES hosts YO! (Youth Organizing) -- a group focusing on community organizing for action and change. Contact YES@gaycenter.org or call 212-620-7310 for more details.
