If you have tried to quit over and over again, these workshops - which are held at the Center - will give you the tools to find out the pros and cons of quitting, build a support system. develop a plan and finally smoke your last cigarette.

Since 1993, The LGBT SmokeFree Project at the Center has been dedicated to helping members of the LGBT community quit smoking for good!

GROUP DESCRIPTIONS

Not Quite Ready to Quit
The 3-hour Not Quite Ready to Quit workshop focuses on understanding nicotine addiction, increasing motivation, and eliminating roadblocks to making the decision to quit.

In order to attend the Commit to Quit groups (see below), you must attend one of these three hour workshops which focus on understanding nicotine addiction, increasing motivation, and eliminating roadblocks to making the decision to quit.

Commit to Quit
The 6-week Commit to Quit group helps you develop a quit plan, build a support system, and effectively handle relapse pressure after you have quit. One session of Not Quite Ready to Quit is required. There is no charge for this group.

The LGBT SmokeFree Project Interns at the LGBT Community Center of NYC created this short film about aggressive tobacco marketing that targets LGBT youth in NYC. This film is intended to educate young people about the tactics that the tobacco company uses to manipulate and target us.
