A statewide civil rights organization, Empire State Pride Agenda is
committed to fighting for equality and justice for the lesbian, gay,
bisexual, and transgender people of New York. The Pride Agenda
advances the rights of the LGBT community by educating policymakers, by
building coalitions, by increasing political participation of LGBT
people and their allies, and by organizing LGBT communities throughout
the state. Begun in 1990, Pride Agenda has seen a number of victories
including: the repeal of the consensual sodomy statute in New York
State, passage of the “Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Act,” and
the enactment of domestic partnership laws, transgender
non-discrimination measures and equal benefits laws in NYC.
