As an organizing force within the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and
transgender community, the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of South
Florida (GLCCSF) takes as its mission: “to foster the personal
development and quality of life of the community it serves, as well as
to increase understanding and acceptance within the greater South
Florida community.” In 1993, The Center was the vision of the gay
pioneer and philanthropist, Alan Schubert, as a place where the battle
for liberation and the need for support could be facilitated, uniting
the gay and lesbian community. Today, that vision is being realized,
as the GLCCSF is home to 45 groups, receives 200 calls a day and serves
over 15,000 individuals.
