In the Rubin Museum of Art exhibition Stable as a Mountain: Gurus in Himalayan Art, the portraits of Tibetan lamas extend their reach into the future through successive portraits of their reincarnations. In the film series Mirror, Mirror we look at portraits that also make their influence felt beyond time, but rarely with the same compassionate results.
