With roots in the elegant country dances of England, Contra Dance developed in the barns of colonial New England, where elegance was dropped in favor of a grittier, more ecstatic American style. Beginner intro and pre-dance schmooze at 6:30. Live music by Housetop, with Donna Hunt calling. Everyone is welcome and no experience is required. Come put a queer twist in these American roots! $12.
