Center Voices presents Working Authors

Center Voices presents Working Authors : Stephen Motika, Michael Montlack and Matthew Hittinger. Join us for a reading of the work of three queer authors; Stephen Motika, Michael Montlack and Matthew Hittinger.

Matthew Hittinger is the author of the chapbooks Pear Slip (Spire Press, 2007) winner of the Spire 2006 Chapbook Award, Narcissus Resists (Goss183/MiPOesias, 2009), and Platos de Sal (Seven Kitchens Press, 2009). He received his MFA from the University of Michigan where he won a Hopwood Award for Poetry, and his work has appeared in many journals and anthologies including Best New Poets 2005. Stephen Motika is the editor of Tiresias: The Collected Poems of Leland Hickman (2009) and the author of the chapbook, Arrival and At Mono (2007). Recent work has appeared in Eleven Eleven, The Boog City Reader 4, and The Poetry Project Newsletter. The Field, his collaboration with visual artist Dianna Frid, was on view at Gallery 400 at the University of Illinois, Chicago, in 2003. He is the coordinator of public programs, exhibitions, and education at Poets House and the publisher of Nightboat Books.  

Michael Montlack is the editor of the essay anthology My Diva: 65 Gay Men on the Women Who Inspire Them (University of Wisconsin Press, 2009). His three poetry chapbooks include The Slip (Poets Wear Prada, 2009); Girls, Girls, Girls (Pudding House, 2008); and Cover Charge (Winner of the 2007 Gertrude Prize). He splits his time between New York City (where he teaches at Berkeley College) and San Francisco, and is at work on his first novel.
