Event Will Raise Vital Funds for Center's HIV/AIDS Related Services and Spotlight Cycle for the Cause: The Northeast AIDS Ride - 18 Years Strong; Patterson's Team Outspoken Aims to Raise 100K for the Center
NEW YORK, N.Y., July 9, 2012 - The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center and SiriusXM's 24/7 LGBT channel SiriusXM OutQ are teaming up to host Team Outspoken's Big Gay Ice Cream Truck Social to raise awareness about Cycle for the Cause: The Northeast AIDS Ride, which raises crucial funds for the Center's HIV/AIDS related services.
Cycle for the Cause is the Center's inspirational three-day Boston to New York City cycling event that challenges riders and crew physically and mentally, all for a greater cause. This year's ride is September 21-23.
Romaine Patterson, co-host of SiriusXM's The Derek and Romaine Show, will be on site, sending regular updates to SiriusXM subscribers/listeners across the country. Patterson will be live tweeting and calling on the community to support Team Outspoken, her Cycle for the Cause riding team, that collectively vows to raise $100,000 for the Center's HIV/AIDS related services. Patterson's co-host Derek Hartley will participate live from the SiriusXM OutQ studio. Patterson will call in to The Derek and Romaine Show during the event to update her listeners about Team Outspoken's fundraising efforts and urge them to lend their support. The Derek and Romaine Show airs nightly beginning at 6 PM ET on SiriusXM OutQ Ch. 108.
The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck will also be on hand to help beat the summer heat with their variety of dessert offerings. Community members can enjoy the sweets in the Center's garden while listening to great music, courtesy of guest DJs Lady Bunny and James Anthony.
