Out at The Center - february 2008 Edition



The Center's half-hour show is hosted by Laverne Cox and includes New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson’s call for gender identity inclusion to America’s top companies; City Hall’s proclamation honoring former Public Policy Director Miriam Yeung; the opening of the Community Art Project Exhibition; A panel discussion with corporate senior-level out lesbians Gwen Marcus, Lisa Sherman, Claudia Slacik hosted by Jennifer Brown; Marcus Mabry discussing his book on Condoleeza Rice, Twice as Good; Director Casper Andreas on his forthcoming film A Four Letter Word and highlights from the Gayety cabaret performance.

Laverne Cox

Laverne Cox
Laverne Cox is a multifaceted performer who has appeared in a number of independent films including the award winning "The Kings of Brooklyn" and "Daughter of Arabia." She has also appeared in theatrical productions at The Producer's Club, PS 122, La Mama and Dixon Place. As a dancer, Ms Cox recently made her Radio City Music Hall debut as part of the Cyndi Lauper "True Colors Tour". She also served as dance captain and co-choreographer. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance from Marymount Manhattan College where she was hand picked by the legendary composer Charles Strouse to appear in his musical revue "Can't Stop Dancin!". Ms. Cox has also appeared in music videos and on television. Her edgy debut single "Boob Job" has generated lots of underground buzz and excitement.
