Hosted by Emanuel Xavier, the Center's half-hour TV show opens with a word from Katelynn, Scott and Baya, the MTV Real World Brooklyn housemates who volunteered at the Center. Richard Burns speaks with Bill Goldstein about his 22 years leading the Center; a panel of LGBT activists looks at the year between the Stonewall Riots and the first march for gay liberation; the Reverend Rowland Jide Macaulay speaks about his experience with the House of Rainbow congregation in Nigeria; and a group of LGBT activists from around the world address homophobia and persecution in their countries after a United Nations plenary on the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Emanuel Xavier is a gay New York City based poet, spoken word artist and actor. He is author of the poetry collections, Pier Queen and Americano, the semi-autobiographical novel, Christ Like, and editor of Bullets & Butterflies: queer spoken word poetry and Mariposas: A Modern Anthology of Queer Latino Poetry. He selected finalists for Best Gay Erotica 2008 and has been published in numerous magazines, journals, and anthologies. He has also been featured on Russell Simmons presents Def Poetry and appeared in the independent films, The Ski Trip, Nothing to Nobody and The Cult of Sincerity. He is recipient of the Marsha A. Gomez Cultural Heritage Award, a New York City Council Citation and the World Pride Power Outstanding Excellence in Performance Arts Award.
