Hosted by Darlinda Just Darlinda, the Center’s half-hour TV show opens on the red carpet of Women’s Event 11 with cast members from The L Word joining honorees at the event. New York State Supreme Court Judge Marcy Kahn sits down with YES Director, Jenny DeBower, to talk about the early days of the Center. New York Times perfume critic Chandler Burr explains the art of fragrance. And a panel looks at the implications of scientific studies searching for the queer gene.
Darlinda Just Darlinda has been working as a Burlesque Performer in New York since 2003. She coined the term “Polyester Performance”, an inspiring mixture of Burlesque, Modern Dance, Performance Art, Comedy Sketch, and Drag Queen Ballet. Focusing on live performance she’s produced Burlesque events in New York City and California. Since October 2005 Darlinda has continued to produce her own brand of burlesque shows as part of her “living art project” called A Year in Rainbow www.yearinrainbow.com. In February 2007 Darlinda was honored to perform with Julie Atlas Muz at PS122 Divine Comedy of an Exquisite Corpse. In October of 2007 Darlinda participated in the Feminist Neo-Burlesque Symposium at The Central School of Speech and Drama at the University of London.
