Braking the Cycle

Braking the Cycle

Braking the Cycle is a three-day bike ride that benefits the HIV/AIDS services of the Center.

Upcoming Braking the Cycle Events

Braking the Cycle "First Saturday" Training Ride, Saturday, September 11 | 8 a.m.

Starting Friday, September 24, 2010, riders will begin their three-day cycling journey from Boston to New York City. With the support of 50 volunteer crew members, they will ride to the steps of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.

They will ride because they have an attitude. The crisis has gone on long enough. It’s time for everyone to get an attitude about AIDS. It’s not enough to live with HIV: People deserve to thrive with HIV.

We take our inspiration from an incredible group of riders: the Positive Pedalers who master the hills with the signature orange flags on their bikes announcing themselves as HIV+. Too many people see a cycle of sickness and shame in HIV. Our Positive Pedalers break the cycle. They thrive with HIV. They demonstrate why the Center’s work is vital.

On Braking the Cycle, our attitude is that the status quo is unacceptable. We believe it’s up to all of us, whether HIV-positive or not, to help people thrive. It’s what makes the AIDS services of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center so important and why we’ve raised over $2 Million in the past seven years.

So get an attitude: Join us!
